Nebojsa Stojkovic
MFA
My academic education includes a B.F.A. from the Academy of Applied Arts and Design in Belgrade (5 years program) and an M.F.A. from the University of Belgrade. After graduating in 1986, I worked as Assistant Professor until 1988. As the Art Professor’s Assistant in former Yugoslavia, I developed and taught the curriculum, as well as traveled with my students to major international artistic events in Europe, such as France, Italy, Spain, and Hungary.
As a contemporary artist, I was invited to join the International Art Colonies/ Residency, where I worked together with artists from all over the world. This great opportunity allowed me to network and share artistic experiences with other artists. In my professional visit to Porrvo-Borga and Helsinki, Finland in 1989, I was developing new lines of souvenirs for Kasel Studio. Also I was invited artist of the Institute of University of Industrial Arts, Helsinki, Finland where I had the opportunity to engage work with Tapio Yli-Viikari, the head of the Institute.
I am an active participant in the arts community and member of different art associations in Canada, USA and Europe. I have been commissioned for art projects where my artwork is integrated in the Architectural Structure.
I have always had a strong need to express myself through different media. My work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and is part of private collections as well as of various art museum permanent collections, such as Museum of Applied Art in Belgrade, Serbia and National Museum in Arandjelovac, Serbia. I was also involved as a judge to select artwork for the major shows in Canada and EX-Yugoslavia.
